Skytap Launches Development and Test Environments on Amazon Web Services

Skytap Cloud Reduces Software Development Lifecycle Inefficiencies and Accelerates Adoption of Cloud for Enterprise Applications

SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/06/13 -- Skytap Inc., the leading provider of self-service application development environments in the cloud, today introduced Skytap Cloud built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. Customers can rapidly and repeatedly deploy development and test environments on AWS infrastructure using Skytap's complete SaaS offering to automate the build, deploy and test lifecycle. The new offering allows users to build and test software on environments that mirror AWS production environments, while utilizing the tools and solutions already used by development teams -- such as Jenkins, Microsoft Team Foundation Server, and IBM Rational Team Concert. With this release, Skytap now supports both native AWS and VMware workloads.

AWS is a trusted infrastructure provider for hundreds of thousands of the world's most innovative companies. Skytap's focus on development and testing means support for on-demand deployment of complex compute and networked environments to dev/test teams. Skytap Cloud on AWS helps ensure applications bound for AWS can be delivered faster and with higher quality.

"Rapid devs want to deliver major applications in weeks, days if possible," wrote John Rymer and James Staten, both VPs and Principal Analysts at Forrester Research, Inc., in the June 2013 report entitled, "The Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Public Cloud Platforms, Q2 2013." "They see public cloud platforms as a fresh start with the potential to yield massive gains in the quantity, velocity, and quality of application delivery."

"We have really seen significant advantages using Skytap for our dev/test environments," said Paul Haury, IT Director at Fulcrum Technologies, the leader in enterprise asset management solutions. "However, we are targeting AWS as a production platform. With Skytap on AWS we are able to develop and test our software rapidly on the same platform we will run in production. This allows us to dramatically improve the time needed to ship application releases, ultimately reducing time to market for our clients and improving the agility of our business."

"With Skytap Cloud built on AWS, enterprise customers leverage Skytap's ALM integrations to enable turnkey continuous integration on AWS infrastructure," said Brian White, vice president of products at Skytap. "Developers, testers and IT professionals now have the features and services they need to build and deliver better software faster within a closed-loop Skytap to AWS environment."

The company will showcase Skytap Cloud at AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas on Nov. 12-15 in booth #820 on the exhibitor floor. Conference attendees are also invited to "Beer and Banter with Skytap" at the booth on Wed., Nov. 13, where they can enter to win Amazon gift cards or a trip to Oktoberfest 2014 in Germany.
