BuildForge Works With IBM to Enable Software Development Governance

BuildForge Products Receive Multiple "Ready for IBM Rational" Validations

AUSTIN, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 01/12/06 -- BuildForge, a leading provider of build and release management software, today announced that they have validated BuildForge FullControl(TM) and their plug-in for Rational Application Developer(TM) with IBM Rational to meet the "Ready for IBM Rational" program integration requirements. The integrated solutions can help development teams create an automated and fully traceable software delivery chain to increase product quality, team efficiency, and achieve sustainable compliance.

BuildForge's solution, integrated with IBM Rational software, gives customers new competitive advantages by automating processes, team handoffs, and documentation across the software development lifecycle. The integration creates seamless links between the IBM Rational ClearCase source repository and FullControl's build and release management system through a custom adaptor that allows teams to implement continuous integration for improved product quality and faster release cycles. The adaptor also enables development teams to assemble a detailed audit trail of release components and source code changes automatically for faster reproducibility and compliance evidence on demand.

BuildForge's plug-in for Rational Application Developer breaks down the traditional barrier between development and software configuration management by giving developers the ability to validate their source changes against the production build environment from directly within their favorite development environment. By receiving immediate, automated feedback on their code, development teams have a greater impact on product quality earlier in the software development lifecycle. The end result is improved team productivity, better software, and faster time-to-market on software releases.

Upon receiving this designation, BuildForge FullControl(TM) became the first IBM Business Partner product to become validated with Rational ClearCase.

"Build and release management is a critical phase of the development lifecycle that has been inadequately addressed by most development and IT organizations," said Melinda Carol Ballou, program director for IDC. "Coordinating build and release management with software change and configuration management is important to enable end-to-end automation, traceability, and team communication and help meet the demands of distributed development, service-oriented architectures, and regulatory compliance."

"IBM and BuildForge are working together to provide market leading software development governance solutions," said Claudia Dent, vice president, business development, Rational Software, IBM. "The combination can help customers automate and track their projects from requirements to deployment, and create a comprehensive audit trail to satisfy compliance mandates."

"These validations mark BuildForge and IBM's commitment to deliver tightly integrated solutions for the management, process automation, and traceability of software processes throughout the application development lifecycle," said Gregg Burt, president and CEO of BuildForge. "We are excited to be working closely with IBM to help our customers optimize their development environments for better quality, reduced cost, and sustainable compliance."
