Renowned Custom Software Development Firm Pivotal Labs Chooses Sauce Labs for Cross-Browser Functional Testing

Sauce OnDemand Allows Pivotal Labs to Run Reliable, Automated, Parallel Tests in the Cloud

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/18/10 -- Sauce Labs (www.saucelabs.com), the Selenium Company, today announced that custom software development firm Pivotal Labs has selected Sauce Labs' Sauce OnDemand cloud testing service to test their own mission critical web applications, as well as those of their clients, across various browsers in the cloud.

Prior to using the Sauce OnDemand cloud service, Pivotal Labs -- whose clients include Twitter, Best Buy and Salesforce.com -- ran on-premise Selenium cross-browser site tests which required them to maintain a test infrastructure supporting multiple browsers, languages and operating systems. After rigorously testing the reliability of Sauce OnDemand, Pivotal Labs decided to move all their Selenium based functional testing requirements to the cloud.

"We maintained our own multi-browser/OS Selenium and JavaScript testing environment for Continuous Integration for many years, but it required too much time and really wasn't core to our business model," said Edward Hieatt, VP of Engineering at Pivotal Labs. "Bottom line, it makes sense to work with Selenium creator Jason Huggins and the other experts at Sauce Labs to meet our functional testing needs via automated services in the cloud."

Pivotal Labs trusts Sauce OnDemand to test all their mission critical applications including the popular Pivotal Tracker -- a free, agile project management tool that enables real time collaboration. Going forward, the company will also use Sauce OnDemand for their client software application development projects.

"This is great validation that a leading software developer like Pivotal Labs sees the value of moving their functional testing to the cloud," said John Dunham, CEO of Sauce Labs. "Rather than spending time maintaining their test infrastructure and supporting frequent new browser releases, they can use our fully-maintained and highly reliable cloud service to focus on developing great software."
